Eutopia Ensemble is pleased to announce its next Call for Scores “The Smell of Protest”.

What is the meaning of “The Smell of Protest”?  20 years ago in our city, Genoa, a protest movement demanded justice and a new model of development to the most important leaders around the world. 20 years later the world has gotten worse: climate crisis, social inequalities, wars. That large movement seems to have vanished into thin air, while dissent has been monopolized by nationalist slogans. How can we resume the fight? How  can contemporary music feel and express “the smell of protest”?

The contest will consist of two steps:

 Step 1 - Deadline: 10th of September 2021

Please apply by sending the following material:

your biography, the payment receipt of 10 Euro, at least two previous works from your catalogue (chamber or symphonic music, recordings are also welcome) in pdf and a short text (it may include some musical fragments) about the piece you would like to compose for this call.

The instrumentation is: violin, cello, flute (also bass, alto and piccolo), double bass (electronics is  allowed).

Step 2 - Deadline: 10th of November 2021
